New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) to promote sustainable energy within India’s healthcare and research sector. The partnership aims to harness solar power for ICMR institutes throughout the country, thereby supporting India’s push towards sustainability and renewable energy.
As part of the agreement, NVVN will supply, install, test, commission, and maintain rooftop solar panels at 15 institutes of ICMR, with a total capacity of 4,559 KW. In addition, the project offers a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for grid-connected solar projects with a fixed solar tariff for the next 25 years.
In its previous projects, NVVN had supplied indigenously developed solar power projects in seven institutes. The current agreement will extend solarization to additional facilities, helping to reduce ICMR’s carbon footprint and energy expenditure. The initiative also aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
