Bengaluru: Kyndryl, one of the largest IT infrastructure service providers, released the findings of its global ‘Cyber Gauge 2024: Navigating the complex cybersecurity landscape’ survey, conducted jointly with Amazon Web Services (AWS). According to the survey results, there is a disconnect between perceived and actual cyber readiness among global enterprises.
The major cybersecurity challenges faced by the enterprises and highlighted by the survey findings are:
According to the results, 52% of IT leaders face operational challenges like preparing for emerging threats including nation-state and generative AI attacks.
54% of large organizations have reported experiencing a cyberattack that disrupted their IT systems and data infrastructure. Out of these, 61% faced four or more attacks, with Germany (71%), Canada (60%), and India (56%) as the top three most affected countries.
69% of enterprises reported a lack of support from business leaders for adopting necessary security measures. Additionally, 73% reported broad-level disinterest in security readiness.
77% of organizations struggle with security and other risk-mitigating team alignment while 72% lack clarity in business continuity roadmaps.
54% of enterprises highlighted that remote work strains their security teams, while cybersecurity budget restrictions (43%) and security skills shortages (43%) were also top challenges.
Sectors like retail (61%), manufacturing (57%), and chemicals, oil, and gas (56%) reported the highest instances of cyberattacks. Government organizations experienced the highest frequency, with 74% reporting four or more attacks.
