PM Modi Urges to Fulfill India’s Vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ While Distributing Over 51,000 Appointments in Rozgar Mela. Bhaswati Guha Majumder of CXO News and APAC News Network reports from ground zero.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed 51,236 appointment letters to new recruits across various government departments under the Rozgar Mela initiative. This nationwide event, organized at 40 locations, aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities to young Indians and marks the government’s continued commitment to prioritize job creation and nation-building.
Newly appointed recruits will join the Central Government in key ministries and departments, including the Department of Revenue, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, among others. As part of their induction, these recruits will receive foundational training through ‘Karmayogi Prarambh,’ an online module on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, which offers over 1,400 e-learning courses to equip them with essential skills for their roles.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to employment, PM Modi stated, “The recruitment process in the government for the youth has been going on in full pace. In BJP and NDA ruling states also lakhs of youths have been recruited. Recently in Haryana, after the formation of the new government, 26,000 youths received the gift of employment. Along with the 51,000 job receivers today, I also congratulate those 26,000 youths from Haryana.”
PM Modi emphasized the broader impact of government initiatives on job creation, remarking, “Our commitment is to make sure that all the youth in the country get more employment opportunities. The initiatives and decisions by the government have a direct impact on employment generation. Expressways, highways, roads, rail, ports, airports, deployment of fibre lines, the work of mobile phone tower implementation in different parts of the country—all these are happening in every corner of the country. New industrial cities are being made. From water to gas pipelines are being laid down. Huge numbers of schools, colleges, and universities are being established. By investing in infrastructure, the government is trying to cut the cost of logistics. By doing all this work, the countrymen are getting the benefits, but also creating crores of employment opportunities.”
Referring to the recent opening of an aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Modi added, “In Vadodara, I was inaugurating a factory for making aircraft for the defence sector. In this factory, thousands of people will be getting jobs. But more than that, because of this factory, a web will be created of small manufacturers who are into making aircraft parts, and they will be supplying these parts from their factories. These parts will be created by the MSMEs of our country. You can understand how much this will be helpful for our MSME industry.”
Further, PM Modi highlighted the job creation achieved through renewable energy initiatives, stating, “In the past 6 months, crores of people registered themselves for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. More than 9,000 vendors have connected to this scheme. Solar panels have been installed in more than 5 lakh homes. In the coming days, through this scheme, 800 solar villages will be established. So far, 30,000 people have received training for rooftop solar installation, meaning that this one scheme has created employment opportunities for manufacturers, vendors, assemblers, and repairers.”
He also noted the transformation of the Khadi and village industries, remarking, “In the past 10 years, the initiatives of the government have changed the picture of Khadi Gramodyog, which is now doing crores of business. Compared to the UPA government era, Khadi sales have increased by about 400%. Even the Lakhpati Didi Yojana has also helped women. Within a decade, 10 crore women joined self-help groups. All these women are earning from some kind of business. As of now, about 1.25 crore women are already Lakhpati didi.”
Discussing the government’s focus on advancing technology and fostering startups, Modi said, “In technology, from space to semiconductor, electronics to electric vehicles (EV), we pushed the Make in India initiative, worked towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. With a focus on bringing new technology and foreign direct investment, we launched the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. Make in India and PLI schemes together have increased the pace of employment opportunities, creating more opportunities for the youth of the country. In the past 8 years, more than one and a half lakh startups have been launched, and India now has one of the largest startup ecosystems in the world. To support the youth, we also launched the Skill India Mission and through the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, paid internships are arranged in the top 500 Indian companies.”
Modi also emphasized the international employment avenues for Indian youth, stating, “In other countries, the youth of India get jobs, and for this, the central government is working. Recently, Germany has issued a skilled workforce strategy for the youth of India. They have decided to give 90,000 visas to skilled youth in this country each year. India has partnered with 21 countries for employment and migration; this includes Gulf countries as well as Japan, Australia, Germany, France, Mauritius, Israel, UK, and Italy.”
Concluding his address, PM Modi reminded the new recruits of their responsibility to the nation: “Today’s government’s focus is to create such a system in which every youth gets the benefit and fulfils all the aspirations. The jobs you are getting today are because of the contribution of the citizens and taxpayers of the country. We are here to help the citizens and we have to make sure that all the citizens are benefited. You have come to work in the government at a time when the country has taken the oath for Viksit Bharat. To achieve this goal in all sectors, we have to perform better, and this won’t be possible without all of you. It will be because of you that the country will be ‘Viksit Bharat’ in 2047.”
Additionally, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Jitendra Singh, highlighted notable growth in government recruitment numbers during the ongoing Rozgar Mela, attributing it to accelerated hiring efforts.
He provided comparative data for the last two decades, revealing that from 2004 to 2014, during the UPA government’s tenure, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) facilitated the recruitment of 2,56,408 individuals, while this figure doubled to over 5,30,000 between 2014 and 2024 under the NDA. Singh also highlighted an increase in Railway Recruitment Board hires, with 4,11,624 recruited during the UPA era, compared to 5,02,502 under the NDA. Similarly, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) appointments rose from 54,129 under the UPA to 60,171 during the NDA period.
Singh noted that the majority of today’s appointment letters were issued to candidates joining the Department of Posts and the Department of Finance, reflecting expanded roles in financial inclusion and social benefit schemes. He cited initiatives such as the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC), Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSY), direct benefit transfers, and zero-balance accounts as part of the expanding functions of these departments.
