Sunsure Energy, a leading renewable power producer in the country, has commenced solar power supply to RACL Geartech Limited, a globally recognized automotive component manufacturer. Under this partnership, Sunsure will deliver 6 million units of renewable energy annually from its solar plant in Mahoba to RACL’s manufacturing facility in Gajraula, UP.
The power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed in July 2023. As per this agreement, it will allow RACL to source over 40% of its Gajraula plant’s energy needs from clean sources, offsetting about 4,300 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year—a key contribution to the company’s sustainability objectives.
RACL Geartech, headquartered in Noida, is known for its high-precision engineering in automotive transmission gears and shafts for a range of vehicles, from motorcycles to heavy commercial vehicles. With facilities in Gajraula and Noida, the company employs more than 800 skilled professionals, producing complex components for global clients in the automotive sector. Aiming to drive sustainable operations, RACL has set a target to generate nearly 50% of its energy from non-fossil fuel sources over the next five years.
Commenting on the collaboration, Shashank Sharma, CEO of Sunsure Energy, said: “We are delighted to partner with RACL Geartech in their quest to transition to renewable energy as part of their ESG roadmap. Jitender Jain, CFO of RACL Geartech, emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental goals, stating: “Partnering with Sunsure Energy is a significant step towards achieving our ESG goals. By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also setting a benchmark in the manufacturing industry for sustainable practices. Our goal to produce 50% of our electricity from non-fossil fuel sources within the next five years aligns perfectly with this partnership.”
