New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued two significant notifications under the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988, and the National Highways Act, 1956, marking a strategic development in India’s highway infrastructure.
In the first notification, the Central Government has officially entrusted a specific stretch of the newly designated National Highway NH-753L to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This stretch, from kilometre 60.500 to kilometre 76.000, lies between Muktainagar and the Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh border, situated in the state of Maharashtra.
The allocation reflects the government’s commitment to improving connectivity across state borders. This move is expected to bolster regional development, streamline interstate transportation, and support economic activities in the region.
It was reported earlier in 2022 that Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the approval for the four-laning of the Shanpur bypass of NH-753L under the Bharatmala Project, at a cost of Rs 784.35 crore. The bypass, passing through Jalgaon in Maharashtra and Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, forms part of NH-753L.
This highway begins at the junction with NH-753F near Pahur, traverses through key locations including Jamner, Bodwad, and Muktainagar in Maharashtra, and connects to NH-347B near Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. The upgraded road includes provisions for bypasses at Dapora, Ichhapur, and Muktainagar.
Additionally, another notification directs the Government of Maharashtra to oversee the execution of works related to specific segments of various National Highways, as outlined in the amended schedule of an earlier notification from 2005.
These decisions align with India’s broader infrastructure development goals and reflect a push to modernize and expand the national highway network. The integration of state governments into the execution framework is expected to expedite project completion and enhance regional connectivity.
The notifications come amidst an ongoing push by the Ministry to enhance the quality and reach of India’s highway infrastructure, ensuring it meets global standards and supports the country’s growing economy.
