New Delhi: ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India (STT GDC India) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government to establish the country’s first AI City, aiming to strengthen the state’s digital infrastructure.
The proposed AI City will focus on building a comprehensive ecosystem for artificial intelligence, including advanced data centers and AI computing infrastructure. The initiative aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s plans to become a hub for digital innovation and achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2027.
STT GDC India, a leading player in colocation and data center services, will contribute by leveraging its existing infrastructure and network of partners. The company, which already operates a data center park in Noida, has committed to further investments in the state totaling INR 4,100 crore.
Lalit Khanna, Chief Operating Officer of STT GDC India, emphasized the collaboration’s importance in enhancing access to digital infrastructure for businesses, startups, and research institutions. “The AI City will create a foundation to foster AI-driven solutions and long-term economic growth,” he said.
The project is expected to accelerate the state’s adoption of digital technologies across sectors like governance, research, and industry. By prioritizing data centers as critical infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh aims to attract digital investments and position itself as a leader in AI development.
The partnership reflects a broader effort by the state government to promote emerging technologies as a driver of economic transformation. The development of AI-focused infrastructure also aligns with India’s growing push for digitalization and technological self-reliance.
Uttar Pradesh’s AI City project highlights the increasing role of data centers and AI infrastructure in supporting India’s tech-driven economic goals. The initiative marks a key step toward strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position as a destination for digital and AI investments.
