Bhavnagar: Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated development projects worth ₹149 crore in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, marking a significant step toward the region’s industrial advancement. The projects are part of the central government’s vision to establish Bhavnagar as a global container manufacturing hub, reducing India’s reliance on imports from China.
Currently, India depends on China for 95% of its container requirements. To address this dependency and promote self-reliance in container production, three companies in Bhavnagar have already started manufacturing containers. The initiative aligns with the government’s larger goal of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and is expected to generate employment opportunities and boost the local economy.
The minister also emphasized the government’s efforts to forge global partnerships for Gujarat’s development. As part of these efforts, the Gujarat government is engaging with the state of New Jersey in the United States to enhance cultural, economic, and industrial collaborations. Both regions have agreed to explore additional avenues for mutual growth, strengthening bilateral ties.
Highlighting another achievement, M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, elaborated on the progress of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) as a global financial hub. GIFT City has successfully attracted international fintech firms, including the Bank of America, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a preferred investment destination.
These developments underscore the state and central governments’ commitment to fostering economic growth, global collaboration, and industrial self-sufficiency, setting the stage for Gujarat’s emergence as a leader in innovation and manufacturing.
