Mumbai: In an unprecedented move, a Kalyan-based CBSE school, Arya Gurukul, has introduced a preventive health kiosk machine for students. The machine can conduct about 60 types of health tests for school students. With this innovative step, the school has become the first and only school in Maharashtra to receive the kiosk machine from CBSE under its hybrid school scheme.
A Tool for Early Disease Diagnosis
The machine, named Prophylaxis, is a revolutionary smart diagnostic tool capable of detecting health issues such as blood pressure, sugar, temperature, and cough among many others. It offers a comprehensive solution for monitoring and enhancing physical well-being in schools. The early detection of diseases will allow the school and families to take proactive measures to ensure better, long-term health outcomes. At present, the facility has been made available to students, with plans for teachers and other staff to take advantage of it in the future.
An Initiative Aligning with UN SDG
The inauguration ceremony of the health kiosk was graced by Dr. Santosh Varma, Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital Ambernath, and Bharat Malik, Chairman of the school. Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Malik stated, “As part of the school’s commitment to preventive healthcare and aligning with United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of ensuring healthcare for all, we are proud to introduce Prophylaxis, an integrated smart diagnostic tool, the first of its kind in Maharashtra.”
CBSE Hybrid School Program for Health Kiosks
Malik also revealed that CBSE planned 900 hybrid schools across the country as part of its hybrid school scheme. Under the scheme, schools that provide online education to children were selected. Out of these, 40 schools were selected for the initiative, including Arya Gurukul School, becoming the only school in Maharashtra receiving the machine. Besides this, the machine has also been given free of cost to other selected schools in the country and training has been given on how to operate it.
