New Delhi: In a major boost to India’s renewable energy landscape, Avaada Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Madhya Pradesh, pledging an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
The agreement was formalized during the MP-GIS 2025 Curtain Raiser event in New Delhi, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This investment aligns with the state’s ambition to emerge as a sustainable energy hub and reinforces Avaada’s long-term commitment to clean energy development in India.

Massive Renewable Energy Expansion
Under the MoU, Avaada Group will develop a diversified portfolio of renewable energy projects in Madhya Pradesh, including:
- 6,000 MW of solar energy
- 700 MW of wind energy
- 2,100 MW of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- 2,000 MW of pumped storage projects
Additionally, the company plans to set up green energy equipment manufacturing facilities, further strengthening the clean energy ecosystem in the state. These projects will not only accelerate India’s transition towards sustainable energy but also generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, benefitting local industries and communities.
Avaada’s Strong Ties with Madhya Pradesh Government
Reflecting on Avaada’s long-standing relationship with Madhya Pradesh, Vineet Mittal, Chairman, Avaada Group, emphasized the state’s critical role in India’s energy transition.
He recalled the company’s pioneering efforts in 2013 when it launched a 151 MW solar project, then the largest in Asia and the second-largest in the world.
A Step Towards India’s 500 GW Renewable Energy Target
Madhya Pradesh is leveraging its rich natural resources and progressive policies to establish itself as a key player in India’s clean energy transition.
This collaboration with Avaada aligns with the nation’s broader goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. By promoting innovation, renewable adoption, and economic diversification, the state aims to set an example for sustainable development.
A Strategic Move for the Energy Sector: APAC News Analysis
Avaada’s massive investment in Madhya Pradesh signifies a strategic shift in India’s energy policy towards large-scale renewable infrastructure. The inclusion of pumped storage projects and BESS technology indicates a move towards energy reliability and grid stability, crucial for integrating intermittent renewable sources.
Furthermore, the development of green energy equipment manufacturing facilities will reduce dependency on imports, bolstering India’s self-reliance in the energy sector.
With the government’s strong policy push and corporate backing, Madhya Pradesh could emerge as a model state for sustainable energy, setting a precedent for other regions to follow. The partnership with Avaada underscores the critical role of private sector investments in driving India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
