Bengaluru: Google has inaugurated its new Bengaluru campus, Ananta in Mahadevapura, marking one of its largest office spaces globally. The facility underscores the tech giant’s deepening commitment to India, a country that has emerged as a pivotal player in the global digital landscape.
Located in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech hubs, Ananta embodies Google’s latest workplace design philosophy. Developed in collaboration with a local design and development team, the campus aims to foster innovation and collaboration.
The name ‘Ananta,’ derived from Sanskrit, translates to ‘infinite’ or ‘limitless,’ signifying Google’s vision of the boundless potential for technological advancements in India and beyond.
A Workplace Designed for Collaboration and Accessibility
Ananta is structured to enhance connectivity and teamwork, featuring an architectural layout inspired by a city grid. The office comprises designated ‘neighbourhoods’ to facilitate collaboration while also offering dedicated spaces for focused work.
At its core lies Sabha, a vast communal space designed for gatherings and discussions, fostering an environment conducive to idea exchange.
The campus also prioritizes accessibility, incorporating tactile flooring for visually impaired individuals, braille-integrated amenities, and inclusive design elements.
Inspired by Bengaluru’s identity as India’s ‘Garden City,’ Ananta boasts extensive landscaping, along with walking and jogging paths for informal meetings and relaxation.
Sustainable and Locally Sourced Infrastructure
With sustainability at its heart, Ananta integrates several environmentally responsible features. The campus recycles 100% of its wastewater, has an advanced rainwater harvesting system, and houses one of India’s largest smart glass installations to optimize energy consumption.
Additionally, the interiors are made using materials sourced almost entirely from local suppliers, aligning with Google’s efforts to support indigenous industries and reduce its ecological footprint.
Strengthening India’s Role in the Global Tech Ecosystem
India has long been a strategic centre for Google, driving innovations such as AI-powered flood forecasting, early tuberculosis detection models, and financial inclusion initiatives through Google Pay.
