Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), through its Electronics and ICT Academy (E&ICT Academy), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ed-tech company Masai to introduce a new set of online certification programmes.
The initiative targets professionals and learners seeking skills in emerging AI-driven and digital technology areas.
Under the collaboration, the E&ICT Academy will design and deliver programmes in domains such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Software Engineering with AI, and Prompt Engineering. The courses are aligned with current industry needs and focus on the practical application of technology.
Programmes for Entry-Level Learners and Working Professionals
The certification programmes are open to entry-level learners as well as working professionals, including those from non-technical backgrounds. The learning model combines live online sessions with hands-on training to ensure practical understanding. Each programme will include a capstone project, allowing participants to work on real-world business problem statements and build a professional portfolio.
On successful completion of the coursework and assessments, participants will receive a certificate from the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee. Learners will also have the option to attend a two- to three-day campus immersion programme at IIT Roorkee. This will include project presentations and formal distribution of certificates and grade sheets.
Strengthening Capacity Building in AI
Prof. K. K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, said the institute places strong emphasis on capacity building in emerging digital and AI-driven technologies as part of its national role in higher education and skill development. He added that industry-aligned initiatives through the E&ICT Academy aim to combine academic rigour with real-world application and support the development of job-ready digital talent.
Industry and Academia Collaboration
Prateek Shukla, CEO and Co-Founder of Masai, said the partnership brings together academic depth and practical learning. He noted that the programmes are designed to help learners build strong portfolios and improve their readiness for technology roles in an increasingly AI-driven job market.
