New Delhi: Arshad Ayub Sheikh, a 2013-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) under the Central Staffing Scheme. His tenure will continue until October 31, 2028, or until his superannuation, whichever occurs earlier.
According to an official order issued by DoPT, Sheikh will assume charge on the date of taking over or as per further instructions. His appointment for central deputation was recommended by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sheikh is currently serving as the Inspector General of Registration in Jammu and Kashmir, where he has played a key role in streamlining administrative processes related to land registration and governance. His selection for this significant central role underscores his expertise and contributions to public administration.
As Deputy Secretary in DoPT, Sheikh will be responsible for key personnel management and policy formulation concerning civil services in India. His appointment marks an important transition from state administration to central government operations, where he is expected to contribute significantly to governance and administrative reforms at the national level.
