Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education (SME) Department of Odisha has partnered with California-based CK-12 Foundation to introduce AI-powered learning resources for students and teachers. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between SME Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit and CK-12 founder Neeru Khosla, in the presence of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
AI-Powered Tools for Personalized Learning
As part of the collaboration, CK-12 Foundation will offer free access to digital educational content and AI-driven tools. These resources will allow students to learn at their own pace, adapting content to their individual needs. Officials stated that AI will help improve learning outcomes by personalizing educational experiences based on student performance.
For teachers, AI-based solutions will assist in administrative tasks like grading, attendance tracking, and lesson planning. The initiative aims to reduce teachers’ workload, enabling them to focus more on student engagement and mentoring.
Bridging Educational Gaps in Odisha
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasized AI’s growing role in governance and education, stating that the technology can enhance decision-making and skill development. CK-12’s digital tools, including interactive simulations and offline accessibility, are expected to make learning more inclusive, especially in remote areas where educational resources are limited.
Neeru Khosla highlighted that the partnership aims to promote equitable education by providing customized resources to students and supporting teachers with enhanced instructional materials.
The Odisha government has been integrating technology into education through various initiatives. With this MoU, the state looks to leverage AI for improving learning experiences in schools, ensuring wider access to quality education.
