Cooch Behar: The North Eastern Frontier Railway is implementing new-gen technologies fit accurate train management and precise time maintenance.
Data loggers are being deployed in front of the signal control rooms of each railway station. This will enable real-time monitoring of railway movement as well as tracking the exact time the train reaches the station and when it leaves.
This function was formerly carried out manually by station managers. They used to feed the data manually to the computers, but now the inputs will be automated through data loggers.
As of now, data loggers have been installed in 59 stations across the North East Frontier Railway. These data loggers have been successfully connected to the Control Office Application of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). Subsequently, these systems will be installed in more stations, too.
The whole process will henceforth be recorded and the recorded data can be gathered and leveraged anytime. To date, there was no provision to gather information about a train standing in a station longer than its scheduled halt.
With all North East stations now getting connected to improved networks, there will be progress in punctuality, development of passenger information system and overall railway management.
