Mumbai: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has awarded a Rs 21.45 crore contract to Genesys International for developing a 3D digital twin map of the city.
The project aims to enhance urban planning, governance, and municipal efficiency through high-precision geospatial data.
GIS-Based Mapping to Streamline Governance
The project, divided into 11 zones, allocates Rs 1.95 crore per zone for mapping critical urban infrastructure. The initiative will support municipal functions such as property tax assessment, record updating, and revenue optimization.
By leveraging digital twin technology, HDMC aims to identify unregistered properties, improve tax compliance, and strengthen financial management.
Data-Driven Approach to Infrastructure Management
Genesys International will use its advanced geospatial technology to create a detailed 3D model of the city, providing real-time insights into municipal operations. The mapping data will assist in traffic management, disaster response and urban planning by offering accurate spatial information.
Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys International, stated that the project will contribute to efficient urban management by digitizing property records and optimizing municipal revenues.
Part of a Broader Digital Mapping Initiative
The Hubballi-Dharwad project is part of the larger New India Map Stack initiative, which aligns with the National Geospatial Policy 2022. Several Indian cities have already implemented similar digital twin models to modernize governance.
This contract reflects the increasing adoption of geospatial technologies in municipal administration, emphasizing data-driven decision-making for urban development.
