Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has introduced the DigiPravesh app, a digital visitor management system aimed at controlling entry and enhancing security at Mantralaya, Mumbai.
The system, which replaces manual visitor registration, mandates pre-approval for access.
New Entry Rules for Visitors
Visitors must now register through the app, provide valid government-issued identification, and receive an RFID access card upon arrival. The RFID card, which must be worn inside the building, will track movement, and unauthorized access to restricted floors will lead to strict action.
To accommodate senior citizens and differently abled visitors, a special entry window has been set at 12 PM, while general visitors will be allowed access after 2 PM. A helpdesk at the Garden Gate will assist those without smartphones or digital literacy in completing the registration process.
Facial Recognition for Faster Access
DigiPravesh, available on Android and iOS, integrates Aadhaar-linked facial recognition, reducing waiting time at entry points. Once registered, visitors will receive a QR code, which must be scanned to obtain an RFID card for entry.
The one-time registration feature aims to streamline the process, allowing future visits without repeated approvals.
Security Measures and Crowd Control
The Maharashtra government expects DigiPravesh to prevent unauthorized entry, manage crowds efficiently, and enhance security at Mantralaya, the state’s key administrative hub. The system will also be mandatory for regional office employees requiring access to Mantralaya.
By shifting to a digital access system, authorities aim to monitor footfall, track visitor movement, and ensure compliance with security protocols in real time. The move is part of a broader effort to modernize security infrastructure at key government offices.
