New Delhi: In a major initiative to support students preparing for competitive exams, the Delhi government has announced free online coaching for CUET and NEET aspirants.
Starting from 1 April, the programme will provide 180 hours of coaching over 30 days, with six hours of classes daily. This move aims to bridge the gap for government school students and enhance their chances of securing admission to reputed medical and central universities.
MoU Signed to Benefit 1.63 Lakh Students
The Delhi government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Education and BIG Institute to launch this program. The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 1.63 lakh students from government schools, providing them with structured coaching and expert guidance.
Comprehensive Study Plan
The coaching program will run from 2 April to 2 May 2025, covering key subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, General Aptitude, and English. It will include:
Daily six-hour online classes
PDF notes for structured revision
Regularly scheduled tests to track progress
A dedicated doubt-resolution mechanism
Improving Accessibility for Marginalised Students
This programme is expected to make competitive exam preparation accessible, particularly for students from economically weaker backgrounds. Many aspirants often struggle to afford private coaching, which puts them at a disadvantage.
By offering free coaching, the government is ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations.
A Step Towards Inclusive Education: APAC News Analysis
This initiative reflects a growing focus on educational equity. Competitive exams like CUET and NEET often favor students with access to high-quality coaching, leaving many government school students at a disadvantage.
By providing free structured coaching, the Delhi government is not only addressing this gap but also promoting inclusive education.
However, the success of this programme will depend on the effectiveness of online learning methods and students’ access to digital resources. If implemented efficiently, this could serve as a model for other states aiming to democratize access to competitive exam preparation.
