New Delhi: In a moving tribute to the country’s bravest, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has dedicated an entire platform wall at the Sir M Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh Metro station on the Pink Line to honour the awardees of Param Vir Chakra (PVC), which is India’s highest military decoration for extraordinary valour in the presence of the enemy.
The artwork at the station features lifelike portraits of all 21 recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, including 14 posthumous awardees. Each portrait is accompanied by a brief biography, offering a glimpse into the heroic deeds of these gallant soldiers.
Created by a team of skilled artists, the wall pays homage to their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
This artistic installation, according to DMRC, is not just a visual spectacle but a powerful reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by India’s armed forces.
Commuters are encouraged to pause and reflect on the inspiring stories of these heroes, drawing strength and pride from their legacy.
Further strengthening its commitment to honouring India’s military, the DMRC has also named several stations after decorated officers, including Major Mohit Sharma Rajendra Nagar, Arjan Garh and Brigadier Hoshiar Singh.
Additionally, the Rajouri Garden Metro station houses a permanent exhibition titled “Veerta Aur Vikas”, showcasing the stories of Indian Armed Forces gallantry awardees, blending valorous history with public infrastructure.
With these initiatives, the Delhi Metro continues to integrate national pride into daily commutes, fostering a deeper connection between citizens and the stories of India’s defenders.
