New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Limited to jointly develop and execute Data Centre projects across India and international locations.
This collaboration aims to combine RailTel’s IT expertise with NBCC’s strength in civil infrastructure to build state-of-the-art Data Centres.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several prominent officials, including Sanjai Kumar, CMD of RailTel, and K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC. Other dignitaries present included Raj Kumar Chaudhary, CMD of NHPC, Dr. Devesh Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NIXI, Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Additional CP of Delhi, and Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Retd. IAS (Tamil Nadu), along with senior representatives from the organisations involved.
Details of the Agreement
As per the agreement, RailTel will handle the planning, designing, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. This will include computing systems, network setups, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery solutions.
NBCC will manage the civil construction aspects, including Data Centre building construction, passive infrastructure development, contract management, cost control, quality assurance, and final project handover.
Global Expansion Plans
Interestingly, this partnership extends beyond India. The two companies plan to collaborate on Data Centre projects in countries like Vietnam, Mauritius, the UAE, and several African nations. Each international project will have its own specific agreement, with flexibility for involving third-party collaborators when required.
Strengthening Digital Growth
RailTel highlighted that this partnership will foster innovation and strengthen digital infrastructure capabilities both in India and globally. The collaboration aims to develop modern, secure, and efficient Data Centres, supporting the digital transformation journey of India and its partner countries.
