New Delhi:Â RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has signed an agreement with Lamrin Tech Skills University (LTSU), Punjab, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to develop specialized training programs for railway professionals.
The partnership aims to equip workers with industry-relevant skills through diploma and certification courses.
Focus on Workforce Training
The MoU sets a framework for designing skill development programs, industry-driven training, and job placement support. RailTel will contribute by sharing industry insights, facilitating internships, and setting up railway-specific training labs. LTSU will provide infrastructure and academic expertise, while NSDC will support industry partnerships and financial aid initiatives.
The agreement was formalized in the presence of RailTel CMD Sanjai Kumar, NSDC Academy Vice President Nitin Kapoor, and LTSU Chancellor Dr Sandeep Singh Kaura, along with senior officials from all three organizations.
Bridging the Skill Gap in Railways
This collaboration comes at a time when the railway sector is undergoing modernization and increasing digital integration. By aligning training with industry needs, the initiative aims to address workforce shortages and improve employability in railway and allied industries.
Officials stated that the courses will include hands-on training and industry-sponsored diplomas, ensuring that graduates are job-ready. The initiative also seeks to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, making skill development more aligned with real-world requirements. This move reflects a broader push toward upskilling India’s workforce, particularly in sectors where technical expertise is critical.
