Bangalore: Razorpay has introduced India’s first Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server for a payment gateway, enabling AI systems to directly initiate and manage payment processes without relying on traditional APIs or dashboards. The move signals a shift in how digital transactions can be triggered through AI-driven commands rather than manual operations potentially reshaping how businesses handle payments.

With this launch, Razorpay is allowing businesses to connect their AI agents, whether built on platforms like Zapier, Claude, or even in tools like VS Code directly to Razorpay’s infrastructure. This direct integration can be used to create payment links, fetch order data, initiate refunds, or manage payment workflows through simple AI prompts.
Why It Matters
Until now, businesses had to rely on dashboards or traditional API integrations to manage payments. Razorpay’s MCP server introduces a protocol-based architecture that allows AI assistants or automated agents to interact directly with payment infrastructure. This reduces the time required for integration and simplifies payment operations in automated environments.
