New Delhi: In a major move towards streamlining digital railway services, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched SwaRail, a new all-in-one mobile application aimed at offering a seamless and unified travel experience to passengers.
Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail is currently available for Android users on the Google Play Store in its testing phase (version v127), with the iOS version expected soon.
SwaRail integrates a host of services previously spread across multiple platforms. From ticket booking, PNR status checks, live train tracking and onboard catering, to station services and IRCTC tourism packages, the app consolidates everything into a single, modern interface.
Some of the features of the app include:
- Single Sign-On (SSO): Users can log in using their IRCTC credentials or register for a new account.
- Modern Dashboard: A unified screen for accessing all essential services, including meal booking and tourism options.
- Live Train Tracking: Real-time updates on train location, platform information, and delays.
- Tourism Integration: Seamless booking of curated IRCTC tourism packages.
The beta testing for SwaRail began in February, allowing IRCTC to gather user feedback and refine the interface ahead of its broader rollout. The app aims to eliminate the need for switching between different apps, simplifying the service experience for passengers travelling on Indian Railways.
While Android users can begin using the app immediately, iPhone users will have to wait for the iOS release, which is expected in an upcoming phase.
