New Delhi: In a strategic move towards enhancing digital convenience, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched an online premium payment facility through a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot. The initiative aims to simplify policy management for its users by offering a seamless, user-friendly platform for transactions.
Digital Access Through WhatsApp
Policyholders registered on LIC’s customer portal can now use the official WhatsApp number — 8976862090 — to check premium dues and make payments directly through the messaging app. The service supports multiple payment modes, including UPI, net banking, and card payments. The entire process, from policy identification to payment confirmation and receipt generation, is completed within the WhatsApp interface, making it accessible and easy to use.
Customer-Centric Digital Shift
LIC stated that this development reflects the corporation’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the customer experience by leveraging fast-growing digital platforms. The company emphasized that the new facility will offer greater convenience and flexibility to policyholders, enabling premium payments from anywhere, at any time.
Boosting Efficiency and Engagement
With over 2.2 crore registered users on its customer portal and more than 3 lakh daily logins, LIC expects the addition of the WhatsApp bot to significantly increase digital engagement. The feature is seen as a tool for improving operational efficiency and streamlining service delivery.
Officials reiterated that the WhatsApp-based service represents another step in its broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at making life insurance services more accessible and user-friendly for its customers.
