New Delhi: The Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, on 26 May unveiled the theme ‘Innovate to Transform’ for the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, which will be held from 8th to 11th October at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.
At the ceremony, Union Minister Scindia also launched the Sanchar Mitra Scheme, which aims to involve young individuals and announced the winners of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2024, which recognise innovation and influence in the telecom sector.
Addressing the event, Minister Scindia emphasised India’s emergence as a global telecom powerhouse, highlighting milestones like the development of an indigenous 4G telecom stack and the country’s position among the top six globally in 6G patent filings.
He stressed that “Design, Solve, and Scale” the “DSS Model” must be the guiding framework for India’s technological advancement.
The newly launched Sanchar Mitra Scheme aims to create a network of young volunteers who will serve as digital ambassadors, bridging the gap between citizens and telecom services while gaining exposure to new technology and the initiatives by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Additionally, recognising outstanding contributions to the sector, the Telecom Excellence Awards 2024 were presented to a mix of individuals and institutions.
This includes the names of Parag Naik (Sankhya Labs), Niral Networks, Lekha Wireless, Prof. Chandra R. Murthy (IISc Bengaluru), and C-DOT for its Cell Broadcasting Solution (CBS).
The awards honour excellence in telecom innovation, skilling, service delivery, manufacturing and applications across vital domains such as agriculture, health, education and commerce.
The DoT and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) are co-hosting the IMC, which is expected to attract over 1.5 lakh participants from more than 150 nations, as well as over 400 exhibitors, 7,000 delegates and 800 speakers.
Building on the legacy of previous editions, IMC 2025 will focus on transformative innovation across industries, digital infrastructure and sustainability.
Key highlights will include demonstrations of over 1,000 use-cases in 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), IoT and green technologies.
With the return of ASPIRE, the flagship startup program launched in 2023, IMC 2025 will also see over 500 startups pitch their ideas to over 300 investors and ecosystem enablers, underlining the government’s continued push for a digitally inclusive and innovation-led economy.
