New Delhi: Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd (TEECL) has launched a new digital infrastructure subsidiary, Techno Digital Infra Pvt Ltd, with a planned investment of one billion dollars to develop a network of data centres across India.
TEECL aims to build a combined capacity of 250 MW through hyperscale and edge facilities, marking its formal entry into the country’s growing digital infrastructure segment.
Hyperscale Facility in Chennai Kicks Off Expansion
As part of its first phase, Techno Digital is constructing a 36 MW hyperscale data centre at SIPCOT IT Park, Siruseri, Chennai. Spread over two lakh sq ft., the facility will host up to 2,400 racks and incorporate sustainability features such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), adiabatic cooling systems to improve water efficiency and a targeted Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35. It also includes plans for 25 per cent green cover on the site. Future hyperscale projects are in the pipeline for Noida and Kolkata.
Partnership with RailTel Targets Edge Data Infrastructure
In a strategic move to decentralise data infrastructure, TEECL has signed an agreement with RailTel Corporation of India Ltd to set up Edge Data Centres in 102 cities across 23 states. This initiative will bring low-latency computing closer to users in tier two and tier three locations, supporting the digital requirements of sectors such as fintech, AI, healthcare, OTT and e-governance.
