Kolkata: The West Bengal cabinet of Ministers has approved the creation of a new position, Joint Commissioner (Cyber) in Kolkata Police.
This is to counter the increasing number of cybercrimes where criminals are devising new, innovative measures to conduct these crimes.
Currently, a Deputy Commissioner ranked IPS officer heads thr cyber crime unit of Kolkata Police. However, soon there will be a Joint Commissioner ranked IP officer heading thr unit.
Besides another position, the Joint Commissioner (Law) has also been approved for an IPS officer to look into the legal matters of the Kolkata Police.
The state cabinet also approved the positions of two Deputy Secretaries for the West Bengal Central School Services Commission (SSC).
With SSC issuing notifications for almost 50,000 new joiners, these positions will accelerate and streamline the process.
