New Delhi: On Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry announced plans to build a new 20,000 square foot skill development center at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Next week is anticipated to see the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the center.
Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), made the declaration while visiting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar on Saturday to assess the state of startup development and industrial infrastructure.
In order to support the region’s innovation and industrial ecosystem, the Secretary emphasized during his tour the necessity of luring investments from the Global Capability Center (GCC) and encouraging the growth of AURIC’s Research & Development (R&D) centers.
The Secretary also held an industry interaction session with representatives from key industry bodies including MASSIA, CMIA, CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM.
Presenting the state’s strategic strategy for industrial growth, Dr. P. Anbalagan, Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Maharashtra, described projects like the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) and the Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL).
The Secretary also spoke with local startup creators, incubators, and aspiring business owners. In order to strengthen the startup environment, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, he praised their inventiveness and underlined the government’s strong support through programs like Startup India, Fund of Funds, and sector-specific incentives.
