Mumbai: LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL) has launched the Sanjeevani – Blood Group Registry App under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.Â
Developed in collaboration with the CM Jan Kalyan Kaksha of the Government of Maharashtra and the Wockhardt Foundation, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the state’s healthcare ecosystem and addressing long-standing challenges in blood donation and distribution.
The app was inaugurated by Prakashrao Abitkar, Minister of Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, in the presence of senior government officials, LIC HFL representatives, and the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC). With the backing of the state government and SBTC, the registry is set to be rolled out across all blood banks in Maharashtra, ensuring wide adoption.
Tackling Challenges in Blood Supply
The Sanjeevani App has been designed to streamline blood donation and supply management by creating a registry of donors aged 18–65. It offers real-time visibility of demand and supply, reducing shortages and mismatches in transfusions. The app also helps curb wastage of blood units while ensuring transparent communication between donors, blood banks, and hospitals.Â
Over the next three years, the program aims to reach nearly six crore beneficiaries across the state, directly benefiting around two crore individuals annually.
Commitment to Healthcare
According to LIC HFL, Sanjeevani reflects the company’s commitment to using technology to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery. The initiative, supported by the Government of Maharashtra and Wockhardt Foundation, is being positioned as a sustainable, community-focused, and technology-driven solution to save lives across the state.
