Kolkata: The Directorate of Registration and Stamp Duty under the West Bengal Finance Department has made the entire land and house registration process cashless.
Henceforth, no cash transaction will be required for the registration use charges or any other fees.
From July onwards, all registry offices across the state will have Point of Sale (POS) terminals. All cashless transactions using debit cards, credit cards, UPI and QR code scans can be availed here.
With most people now adept at cashless transactions, this process would bring more transparency to the system.
Already, the government has allowed online registration applications. Even registration fees and stamp duty can be paid online.
Shifting the system online has helped the government earn more revenue. Even the first quarter of this fiscal year has seen higher revenues than FY2024-2025.
The cashless transaction could provide a further boost for the revenue department.
