New Delhi: Senior IAS Rajendra Ratnoo has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation, according to an official order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).Â
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment on Monday.
Ratnoo, a 2001-batch officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme. His tenure will last for five years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever comes first.
With extensive administrative experience at both the state and central levels, Ratnoo brings a broad perspective to his new role. His appointment comes at a significant time for the Ministry of Cooperation, which was formed in 2021 to strengthen the cooperative movement across the country.
The ministry is currently focusing on improving governance in cooperative institutions and supporting self-reliant rural economies. Ratnoo’s role is expected to accelerate ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), multipurpose cooperatives, and credit cooperatives nationwide, giving a fresh push to policy execution and grassroots reforms.
