Lucknow: In a significant administrative reshuffle, senior IAS Shashi Prakash Goyal has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.Â
He replaces IAS Manoj Kumar Singh, whose request for a one-year extension was turned down by the Centre, despite the state government’s recommendation.
Goyal brings with him a wealth of experience, having served in senior roles at the President’s Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office. He was also empanelled as Secretary to the Government of India, underlining his national-level recognition. Until now, he served as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a post he held for eight years. Known for his efficient and low-profile working style, Goyal has played a key role in implementing major policies and governance reforms under the current administration.
The appointment comes at a crucial time, as Uttar Pradesh intensifies work on several major projects, including the Jewar International Airport, Ganga Expressway, and a network of logistics and data centers. Ensuring coordination and timely execution of these initiatives will be among Goyal’s top priorities.
