Srinagar: J&K Bank announced that its board has approved the appointment of S. Krishnan as the non-executive chairman of the bank for a term up to March 26, 2028.Â
The appointment will take effect once it receives clearance from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the bank informed in a regulatory filing.
The decision was taken at the board meeting held on August 25. Krishnan, who currently serves as an independent director on the bank’s board, has previously held key leadership positions in the banking sector.
A veteran with more than four decades of experience, he earlier served as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Punjab & Sind Bank. After superannuation, he was appointed MD & CEO of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank in September 2022.
Krishnan holds a postgraduate degree in commerce and is also a qualified cost accountant.
