Kolkata: West Bengal’s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (formerly Titagarh Wagons) has bagged a contract for 108 coaches for Mumbai Metro.
NCC Ltd, which is developing the Mumbai Metro for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), awarded the contract to Titagarh Rail Systems.
The total contract worth Rs 1598.55 crore will be for Mumbai Metro’s Line 6 and will be completed in around 104 weeks.
Titagarh Rail Systems will design the coaches, send them to Mumbai, put them on track, connect different components, undergo testing and make the trains fully functional.
On average, each coach manufacturing will cost Rs 10-11 crore. The prices will vary depending on the features and facilities incorporated in the coaches.
Titagarh Rail Systems will maintain all the coaches for five years afterwards.
