New Delhi: Quick commerce company Zepto has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to expand job postings and improve youth employability through the National Career Service (NCS) portal. The agreement, signed in the presence of Union Minister for Labour & Employment Mansukh Mandaviya, commits Zepto to provide 10,000 job postings during the MoU period.
The NCS platform, launched by the government as a bridge between employers and job seekers, has mobilised nearly 7.5 crore vacancies since its inception, with over 52 lakh employers registered. The government is also working to strengthen the portal with artificial intelligence and digital tools to improve job-matching based on qualifications and location.
According to the Ministry, the partnership with Zepto is expected to create structured urban employment opportunities for youth, women, and first-time job seekers. It will also help link gig workers with e-Shram registration, social security schemes, and skilling opportunities. Labour Ministry officials highlighted that this collaboration supports ongoing efforts to expand formalisation and ensure social security coverage for workers in the platform economy.
Zepto joins other firms such as Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido and Quikr Jobs, which have already signed similar agreements with the Labour Ministry. Together, these partnerships have mobilised nearly five lakh vacancies through the NCS portal over the past year.
By integrating private sector hiring platforms with government systems, the Ministry aims to widen access to secure and long-term employment while strengthening oversight of the fast-growing gig economy. The MoU with Zepto underscores the continued role of NCS in aligning digital hiring platforms with national employment and skilling initiatives.
