New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday inaugurated enhanced passenger facilities at 65 small and medium railway stations under the North Western Railway Zone in Rajasthan. The ceremony was held at Jaipur’s Khatipura station, with other stations connected online.
The new facilities include extended and newly constructed platforms, improved shade covers, designated passenger areas, and an Integrated Passenger Information System (IPIS). In addition, digital signboards and coach position display systems have been installed to improve passenger convenience and travel experience.
“The old platforms have been extended to their full length. Platform sheds have been installed, and digital signboards and coach position display systems have been installed for passenger information. Additionally, an Integrated Passenger Information System (IPIS) has been implemented at several stations,” said Vaishnaw.
The minister emphasised that these works are part of the government’s broader plan to modernise infrastructure and provide better amenities at smaller railway stations, ensuring comfort for passengers in semi-urban and rural regions.
Vaishnaw also launched a new initiative to provide printed blanket covers to all passengers travelling in air-conditioned coaches, aimed at maintaining hygiene and enhancing onboard comfort.
