Chandigarh: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred three IAS officers with immediate effect. IAS Arshdeep Singh Thind (2004 batch) has been appointed as Administrative Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
He will also hold the additional charges of Administrative Secretary, Horticulture, and Soil & Water Conservation. Thind replaces IAS Basant Garg in these roles.
Other transfers include
- IAS Basant Garg (2005 batch) has been posted as Administrative Secretary, Power. He will also serve as Administrative Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd., and Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. Garg earlier handled several key roles, including Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Horticulture, Soil & Water Conservation, and was the Nodal Officer of the Anti-Drug Campaign.
 - IAS Sanyam Aggarwal (2012 batch), who was serving as Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, and CEO, State Health Agency, Punjab, will now also serve as the Nodal Officer, Anti-Drug Campaign. This additional charge relieves Basant Garg of the responsibility.
 
The reshuffle highlights the Punjab government’s focus on balancing administrative workload and ensuring dedicated leadership in crucial sectors such as agriculture, health, and energy. It reflects the state’s continued efforts to strengthen governance and address evolving priorities effectively.
