New Delhi: The Centre has released Rs 94.236 crore to Uttarakhand as 15th Finance Commission grants for rural local bodies and Panchayat Raj Institutions for the financial year 2025-26.
Of the total amount, Rs 94.10 crore represents the second instalment of untied grants for 2024-25, which had earlier been withheld and has now been disbursed to all eligible gram panchayats across the state.
The release was made by the Ministry of Finance following recommendations from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Finance Commission grants for rural local bodies are released in two instalments each financial year.
Untied grants allow gram panchayats to address location-specific development needs under the 29 subjects listed in the 11th Schedule of the Constitution, excluding salaries and establishment costs.
In contrast, tied grants are earmarked for essential services such as sanitation, maintaining open defecation-free status, solid and liquid waste management, and improving drinking water supply, rainwater harvesting and water recycling infrastructure.
