According to the department, enforcement teams conducted district-wide checks during the 2025–26 financial year up to December 18, targeting unauthorised operations, overloading, and other safety-related violations.
As part of the drive, 478 vehicles were issued challans, while 332 vehicles were impounded and sent to police stations across the district.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Udit Narayan Pandey said passenger buses were a key focus of the campaign.
“Special attention was given to buses found carrying excess passengers or transporting unauthorised goods,” he said.
During the same period, 114 buses were challaned for violations, and 87 buses were impounded. Officials said the enforcement drive aims to improve road safety and curb illegal transport operations in the district.
