New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a visa-free transit facility for Indian nationals through French airports.
According to the India–France joint statement, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the French President have welcomed this upcoming facility, which will be reviewed after a six-month pilot period.
Macron also reiterated that France will welcome 30,000 Indian students by 2030, up from around 10,000 at present, strengthening education ties with India. The announcement was made during an event at AIIMS Delhi and came as PM Modi and Macron elevated ties between the two countries to a “Special Global Strategic Partnership.”
Macron also added that France will simplify its visa process for Indian students. Under the new provisions, long-term visas will match the length of academic courses, including PhD programmes.
