New Delhi, July 31(APAC Media): IBM and Sarvam have partnered to develop and test sovereign AI technologies for government agencies and regulated sectors in India. The collaboration focuses on building AI systems that keep data, governance and operations under local control while supporting public sector use cases.
Focus On Government AI Projects
The two companies will jointly pilot AI solutions for citizen services, grievance redressal, document processing and administrative workflows. The initiative combines IBM’s Sovereign Core platform with Sarvam’s India-built language, voice and reasoning AI models to support multilingual and voice-enabled digital services.
The companies said the technology is designed for central and state governments, public sector organisations and regulated enterprises that require compliance with India’s security and governance requirements.
Innovation Hub In Lucknow
The IBM GovTech AI Innovation Center in Lucknow will serve as a joint demonstration and incubation hub. Government departments and enterprises will be able to evaluate technical, operational and governance requirements before deploying AI systems at scale.
IBM Software India General Manager Sriram Raghavan said sovereign AI is about giving organisations greater control over how AI is deployed, governed and managed. Sarvam Co-founder Pratyush Kumar said the partnership aims to help governments deliver services such as benefits and grievance support in multiple Indian languages through existing digital systems.
The collaboration comes as India increases its focus on sovereign AI infrastructure and domestic AI models for public sector applications, with governments and regulated industries seeking greater control over data security, compliance and AI deployment.
