New Delhi, July 31 (APAC Media): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on Saturday to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore, covering sectors such as aviation, semiconductors, renewable energy, power transmission, highways and youth development.
The Prime Minister’s visit will begin in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh, before concluding in Mysuru, Karnataka, where he will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka).
Greenfield Airport to Boost Connectivity
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram after inspecting its passenger terminal and addressing a public gathering.
Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an investment of over Rs 5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport has the capacity to handle six million passengers annually.
The airport is expected to strengthen regional air connectivity while boosting tourism, trade, investment and employment in Andhra Pradesh.
Equipped with AI-enabled systems, biometric passenger processing, automated baggage handling and smart operational technologies, the airport has also been designed with sustainability features including a 5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, EV charging infrastructure and energy-efficient building systems.
The terminal is registered under U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) standards and incorporates architectural elements inspired by Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage.
Andhra’s First Semiconductor Facility
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam.
Being developed by ASIP Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with APACT, Republic of Korea, the project involves an investment of over Rs 460 crore and has been approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.
It will be Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility and is expected to manufacture nearly 96 million semiconductor chips annually, while generating high-skilled employment and strengthening the state’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Renewable Energy Transmission Projects
As part of the visit, PM Modi will launch multiple power transmission projects aimed at supporting India’s clean energy transition.
These include the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (4.5 GW), being implemented by POWERGRID at an investment of around Rs 5,550 crore.
He will also inaugurate transmission systems for renewable energy zones in Kurnool and Ananthapuram, with a combined investment exceeding Rs 4,300 crore.
The projects are expected to facilitate efficient evacuation of renewable energy through the National Grid, improving clean power availability and supporting India’s decarbonisation goals.
Highway Projects Worth Rs 1,880 Crore
Prime Minister Modi will dedicate several National Highway projects to the nation and lay the foundation stone for new road infrastructure with a total investment of over Rs 1,880 crore.
Projects include highway stretches on NH-365BG, the Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67, and a high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on NH-565.
The projects are expected to reduce congestion, improve road safety, shorten travel time and strengthen connectivity between key regions, including the Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad corridor.
Youth Centre to Open in Mysuru
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre – Viveka Smaraka at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru.
The centre commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s 1892 visit to Mysuru, where he received support from Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X, enabling his historic participation in the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.
The centre aims to promote value-based education, leadership development and personality building, and is expected to benefit more than 10,000 students and young people through workshops, lectures and training programmes inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.
