Bhopal, August 2 (APAC Media):Â The Madhya Pradesh government is strengthening digital infrastructure across government colleges to modernise higher education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Under the Higher Education Department’s initiatives, colleges are being equipped with smart classrooms, high-speed internet, digital studios, computer laboratories and e-learning resources to promote technology-enabled learning.
Supported by the World Bank-funded Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Quality Improvement Project and other government schemes, the initiative aims to improve academic quality, strengthen digital skills and enhance students’ employability.
According to the Higher Education Department, 212 government colleges have been provided with 50 Mbps high-speed internet, while 200 colleges now have virtual smart classrooms.
Modern computer laboratories have been established in 123 government colleges, and 10 colleges have been equipped with advanced digital studios under NEP 2020.
In addition, infrastructure has been upgraded in 247 colleges, while eight universities and 529 colleges have been provided access to e-books and digital learning resources.
The smart classrooms feature interactive digital panels, cameras, laptops, audio-visual equipment, UPS backup systems and internet connectivity, enabling students to attend virtual lectures by subject experts and access technology-driven learning.
The digital studios are being used to record lectures, develop digital learning content, produce educational videos and support online teaching.
To further improve students’ digital competencies, the government has expanded high-speed internet and computer laboratory facilities that support online classes, research, digital libraries, webinars, competitive examination guidance and IT skill development.
The Higher Education Department said 100 additional government colleges are currently in the process of setting up modern computer laboratories.
The state government said these initiatives are aimed at creating a modern, student-centric higher education ecosystem while improving access to digital education and preparing students for future academic and employment opportunities.
