Hyderabad, August 5 (APAC Media): The Telangana Police today launched the Next-Generation Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG-ERSS) – Dial 112.
Dial 112 is an AI-enabled integrated emergency response platform aimed at delivering faster, smarter, and more coordinated assistance to citizens across the state.
The upgraded system was inaugurated by C.V. Anand, IPS, Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), Telangana, at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Hyderabad. The event was attended by senior IPS officers, government officials and representatives of partner agencies.
Unified emergency platform for multiple services
Dial 112 serves as the single point of contact for citizens during emergencies by integrating multiple services under one platform. The upgraded system brings together:
- Police
- Fire Services
- Ambulance Services
- Women’s Safety
- Child Protection
- Disaster Response
- Other emergency support services
By consolidating these services under the national emergency number 112, the platform provides citizens with a seamless and unified gateway for emergency assistance.
AI-powered features enhance response efficiency
The next-generation platform leverages advanced technologies to improve the speed and accuracy of emergency response. Key features include:
- Intelligent filtering of duplicate and non-emergency calls
- AI-based prioritisation of incidents based on severity
- Smart call routing to relevant emergency agencies
- AI-assisted dispatch of field personnel
- Voice-to-text transcription of emergency conversations
- Advanced caller location identification using Location-Based Services (LBS), Advanced Location Services (ALS) and Google Maps
- Real-time operational dashboards and performance analytics
- Unified single-window interface for call takers and dispatchers
- Integration with drones and emerging emergency-response technologies
Significant improvement in response processing
According to the Director General of Police, the upgraded system has already improved operational efficiency.
Key performance improvements include:
- Call taker processing time reduced from 100 seconds to 69 seconds
- Dispatcher processing time reduced from 90 seconds to 64 seconds
- Overall call centre processing time reduced from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, an improvement of nearly 30 percent
At present, Telangana records an average emergency response time of approximately six minutes in urban areas, 15 minutes in rural areas, and 10 minutes 30 seconds across the state.
Transition to next-generation emergency response
Looking ahead, Telangana Police will introduce AI-enabled drones on a pilot basis in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and Future City Commissionerates. These drones will function as aerial first responders, providing real-time visual intelligence during fires, road accidents, disasters, law and order situations, crowd management, and search and rescue operations.
With the launch of the Next-Generation Dial 112 platform, Telangana has further strengthened its position as a pioneer in integrated emergency response and technology-enabled policing, setting a new benchmark for citizen-focused public safety services in India.
