New Delhi, September 17(APAC Media): Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro will go on sale in India on September 18. The new model starts at ₹1,64,900 for the 256GB version, while the iPhone 17 Pro started at ₹1,34,900 for the same storage. This means buyers will pay ₹30,000 more for the new model.
So, what has changed between the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro? Here are the key differences.
Processor And Performance
The iPhone 17 Pro comes with Apple’s A19 Pro chip, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses the newer A20 Pro chip.
In simple terms, the newer chip is designed to make the phone faster and use power more efficiently. Apple has also improved the phone’s cooling system. This should help the iPhone 18 Pro manage heat better when it is being used for demanding tasks such as gaming or video editing.
Camera
The camera is one of the biggest changes on the iPhone 18 Pro.
The new phone comes with a 48MP main camera with a variable aperture. This means users can change how much light enters the camera lens.
For everyday users, this can provide more control over photos, especially when taking pictures in different lighting conditions. It can also help users create more control over the background blur in photos.
The iPhone 17 Pro has a fixed aperture. The iPhone 18 Pro also adds more manual camera controls, including options to adjust shutter speed, focus and white balance.
Battery And Charging
Battery life is another area that buyers may notice.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can provide up to 36 hours of video playback. The phone can also reach 50% battery in around 15 minutes when used with compatible fast-charging equipment.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a larger battery and offers up to 45 hours of video playback, but that figure applies to the Pro Max rather than the standard Pro model.
Price And Storage
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 for 256GB in India. It is also available with 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
The iPhone 17 Pro started at ₹1,34,900 for 256GB when it launched.
The biggest point here is the ₹30,000 difference between the two phones at the entry-level storage option. Buyers who need more storage can also choose the 2TB version of the iPhone 18 Pro.
Design And Colours
The overall design remains familiar, but Apple has introduced new colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro.
The new Pro models are available in Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy. The iPhone 17 Pro was launched in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue and Silver.
What Has Changed?
For someone upgrading from an iPhone 17 Pro, the main changes are the newer A20 Pro chip, variable-aperture main camera, improved cooling, faster charging and up to 2TB of storage.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India and will be available from September 18 through Apple’s online and retail stores as well as authorised retailers. Buyers can also check for exchange offers, cashback deals and no-cost EMI options at the time of purchase.
