New Delhi, September 18 (APAC Media): The Ministry of Coal has appointed Sona Kumari as a Non-Official Independent Director on the Board of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).
The appointment was communicated through a Ministry of Coal letter dated September 17, 2026, with Coal India subsequently informing the stock exchanges about the development.
Sona Kumari Joins NCL Board as Independent Director
Sona Kumari will serve as a Non-Official Independent Director on the NCL Board. Her appointment takes effect from the date of notification and will remain valid until the completion of her tenure as a Non-Official Director on the Board of Coal India Limited, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
NCL is one of the key subsidiaries within the Coal India group and operates under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Coal.
Sona Kumari’s induction brings a new independent member to the company’s Board. As a Non-Official Independent Director, she will be part of the Board’s oversight and governance structure.
