Thiruvananthapuram: A citizen advisory forum has been constituted at the city level to advise and enable greater collaboration among various stakeholders for smooth implementation of smart city projects.
A SPV which was incorporated under LSGD for implementing the Smart City Mission (Central Scheme) in Thiruvananthapuram with a total project outlay of Rs. 1538 Cr. As per Smart City proposal there are 43 project modules with a total project costing of Rs.1538 Cr.
Mission objective is to develop the central 9 wards of Thiruvananthapuram city through the retrofit model (urban infrastructure improvement) for Area based Development (ABD) plus a Pan-city initiative in which Smart Solutions are applied covering larger parts of the city.
The forum comprises Adv V K Prasanth, Mayor, MP Shashi Tharoor, MLAs including K Surendran, V S Siva Kumar, M Vincent, K Muralidharan and O Rajagopal, Dr Beena M, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, SCTL, District Collector, Dr K Vasuki IAS.
The technical experts include G Vijayaraghavan, former director, Centre for Autism and other Disabilities Rehabilitation Research and Education, A Kasturirangan, former town planner, M Najeeb, former secretary, Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, T Elangovan, Executive Director, Road Safety, Kerala Road safety Authority, M Gopalakrishnan, former special correspondent, Mathrubhumi, L P Chither, director, (drinking water), Suchitwa Mission, Thiruvananthapuram, Dr R Ajaykumar Varma, Technical Advisor, Haritha Keralam Mission, K Manoj Kumar, consultant C-Dit, Thiruvananthapuram and G Shankar, architect, Habitat Technology Group.
The advisory group also has representatives comprising local youth, secretary, residents association, tax payers association, slum level federation, NGOs, Mahila Mandali, member of Chambers of Commerce and Youth Association.
