Aurangabad: A miniature satellite also known Femto satellite or smallsat made by 10 students of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) run school was part of 100 such satellites launched from Rameshwaram on Sunday.

Suraj Jadhav, a member of the team who is presently in Class X said, “It was a great learning experience. Science was always my favourite subject but now I have developed more interest in it. This project has fueled my aspirations to pursue higher studies in the field of Science.”
The other team members include Sonali Yadav, Vishal Wahul, Gulnaz Sayed, Rani Chopade, Nandini Mothe, Pratima Mhaske, Sahil Khedare, Irshad Samsher Khan and Rupali Gaikwad.
The students were engaged in the making of the smallsat for the last two months. It is the only school from Marathwada region to have developed a smallsat.
This effort is part of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Space Research Payloads Cubes Challenge-2021. The 100 smallsats were launched from Rameshwaram the birth place of the late former President of India and ace scientist. The challenge encourages school students to take part with an aim to inculcate the scientific temper. In this case, the students of a civic school have come forward and developed a smallsat.
The students underwent special training in the presence of experts which was followed by a workshop in Pune on January 19.
