VENCHAPALLI VILLAGE IN MANCHERIAL DISTRICT HAS MANAGED TO KEEP THE DEADLY CORONAVIRUS AT BAY

Hyderabad: What many cities, towns and villages could not, the people led by woman Sarpanch – P Rajubai have done by keeping the rampaging coronavirus at bay and how! Here is a low down.
The pastoral community first came up with a Standard Operating Protocol that included a ban on the entry of people from Maharashtra, restricting the movement of outsiders into the village, the village Panchayat bought a four-wheeler and hired a local driver for the transportation of essentials from outside and postponed all functions till the situation improves.
The measures have worked wonders, as there has not been a single positive case reported since March 2020.
Mostly farmers and a majority of them uneducated, the population numbering 800 took a vow to adhere to the rules and it is working. The lady sarpanch, Rajubhai has played a key part as she keeps motivating people with pep talks and the whole village stands united in the war against the virus.
The decision of the village Panchayat in Kotapalli mandal of restricting outsiders has worked say villagers. Ramu, a native says, “Initially, it was difficult to follow the rules but now we are proud of ourselves and everyone in the village sports a mask and keeps the surroundings clean.”
Surrounded by hills and forests, the village is now being looked at as a role model for the state. To minimise contact, two members deliver goods to all the 250 homes.
Youth have been entrusted with the responsibility to oversee unnecessary movement and keep a watchful eye in rotational basis particularly in the border of the village.
Farmers on returning home take a bath with water mixed with turmeric and they drink ambali (made with finger millet flour and buttermilk) which is great immunity booster.
