Many might not how education system is transforming and progressing in the youngest state of India – Telangana.
Mr. Navin Mittal, IAS who is at the helm of higher education system of the state, since last three years and four months as the Commissioner, Collegiate Education and Technical Education Department, has ensured an increase of above 43 % in admissions Government Degree Colleges (at a time when Private educational institutions are looked up) by modernizing and reorganising the degree courses.
Today Mr. Mittal delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony on Day-3 of India Digital Empowerment Meet giving a trending and visionary talk.
Following are the points he touched upon giving out a global and futuristic approach for the education system in India.
Huge Acceptance Due to the ‘Coronization’ in Education
There’s change of mindset with huge acceptability of technology and the COVID-19 situation has accelerated it. NEP 2020 is going to be the game changer. Given the global geo-political situation, we are very much ready and are ready to take on as the global services hub but also manufacturing hub. I am bullish about it.
Dost Telangana initiatives.
We adopted this common platform – DOST (Degree Online Initiatives in Telangana) it has transformed the education system in the state. Education delivery has improved. We are working with Coursera with the Campus Studies implemented in JNTU, Hyderabad. Global courses.
‘Telangana’s Innovative Model’
“We in Telangana have introduced and innovating model to make students industry and future ready. Students of final year go to the industry. I am amazed with the level of equipment they were working on as part of the programme. Virtual labs, 3D models of things which can be developed for near Industry-ready learning,”
‘Future of Education’
Whole future of education depends on its delivery. The way ‘One formula Fit For All’ will not work in the industry same is for education. Indian platforms are also doing well besides the global platforms in delivery of education.
‘Online Systems Progressing Fast’
I am happy that AICTE and UGC has allowed 40 % credits be done online. This move from 0-20% -40 % has been quick. Only 15-20 % funding was spent on training part. Approach in online and physical education can be balanced with real training where information part be done online. While the enriching discussion part should be done physically with the connect.”
‘Power of AI’
‘Power of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ in education is progressing fast. Scanning of our answer sheets with AI evaluation and others aspects being done with ease and efficiency. It is only a matter of time that the use of AI will be moving into more and more powerful space.
