IIM Bangalore signs agreement with Assam government to launch CM’s Young Professional Program

The government of Assam (GoA) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore have signed an agreement to jointly operate the ‘Chief Minister’s Young Professional Programme’ (CMYPP). Under the initiative, 70 young professionals will assist government authorities at the district level for two years.

The agreement for the programme was signed by Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma and IIM Bangalore director, Rishikesha T Krishnan along with GoA principal secretary, Samir Sinha in Guwahati today, November 14, 2022. The programme is designed by IIM-B and aims to provide an early career to individuals with a postgraduate degree in any field and are willing to work in the district.

The programme will be a blend of academic and district-based work along with an off-campus academic program spanning 40 days in Guwahati. The first batch under the CMYPP will consist of over 65 professionals being recruited by GoA and IIM Bangalore.

Upon completion of the two-year programme, the candidates will be awarded with a certificate in public policy and management by IIM Bangalore. The details on the application process and remuneration for the programme will be announced over the next few weeks.

Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “This is a unique initiative where highly skilled people will get an opportunity to contribute at the grassroots level as well as gain academic expertise from a prestigious institute like IIM Bangalore. Endeavours such as these will open the doors of the government to talented people. More detailed announcements relating to this programme will be made shortly. While speaking about the programme, IIM Bangalore director, Rishikesha T Krishnan said: “his marks our biggest efforts in the Northeast and we hope the brightest talent in the country will get an opportunity to work for one of India’s fastest growing states. We expect a large number of applicants who are motivated by the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister,”
